Couples have been eloping for hundreds of years. Not everyone wants or needs a large wedding, after all it is all about you as a couple and your commitment to one another. People choose to elope for many different reasons, they may decide to avoid the spotlight and fuss. They want to avoid the organisation and associated pressure and expectation of a large wedding. Older couples that have been together for years often choose to elope with only their nearest and dearest by their sides. Couples from different cultural backgrounds or whose relatives live in other countries. You can choose to be married through the week or on weekends or public holidays. Couples who want to save time and a less common reason for eloping - saving money.
The sheer romance and intimacy of celebrating privately does not mean you have to "go it alone". Sometimes couples choose to have only themselves and their two witnesses attend or you can have a small guest list up to 20 people at your elopement celebration or getaway - the choice is yours.
